Steve Pilgrim returns to his hometown of Liverpool this Thursday to showcase his upcoming album ‘Morning Skies’. The gig takes place at Leaf on Bold Street, and the show promises to be as affectionate as the album. Expect to hear the euphoric sounds of Morning Skies, as well as tracks from Steve’s previous releases.
To create this intimate acoustic album, Pilgrim enlisted the help of local vocalist Rachael Jean Harris and is blessed by the sound of legendary double bass player Danny Thompson (Nick Drake/John Martyn/Pentangle) as well as having the honour of the mod-father himself, Paul Weller, on keys.
Beginning his career with hometown band The Stands, Steve has since worked with John Power (later Cast) and was eventually invited to drum for Paul Weller in 2008. During this period of collaboration, Steve released his debut solo album ‘Lover, Lover Her’ – an intimate acoustic album with a soulful delivery. This was shortly followed by ‘Sunshine’ two years on.
All Steve’s different ventures in music have left him well travelled – extensively touring the world in Europe, America and Japan. In addition to reputable festival slots such as Glastonbury, Benicassim and Coachella, Steve has played a range of venues from coffee shops and bars to theatres and arenas.
The ‘Morning Skies’ launch party will be held on 16th March at Leaf on Bold Street, Liverpool, with support from The Matt Barton Band. You can pre-order the album via BandCamp here.
