NEWS: The Best of Liverpool competition heads to the third heat at Aloft Liverpool

The Best of LiverpoolThe Best of Liverpool – Live@Aloft is one of the biggest independent talent searches the city has even seen, where the people of Liverpool decide who should be crowned the next big star. Heat three of the competition will be taking place at the Aloft Liverpool on Thursday 30th July 2015, with the final stage taking place at the Liverpool Loves Festival on Saturday 8th August 2015.

Over the past three months, the competition has showcased the best up-and-coming talent over a series of audition heats at Aloft Liverpool. They have also performed in front of a live audience and a credible judging panel that has included names such as columnist Jade Wright (Liverpool Echo), actress Alex Fletcher (Hollyoaks and Brookside), TV impressionist Darren Farley, MD Productions Director Miguel Deforo, Phil Olivier (Actor), Debbi Boyd (Founder of Liverpool Loves), and Gary Miller (Ex-Lord Mayor and CEO of Parr Street Studios).

Heats one and two took place in May and June, with The Pynes, Robbie Cavanagh and Shea Doolin making it through after the first round, and Sophie Way, Clare Sophia and Rob Hardie being chosen during heat two. These acts, as well as the ones selected in the third round, will now make it through to the final on Saturday 8th August.

This final will take place as part of the Liverpool Loves Festival in a bespoke Big Top structure placed on the Pier Head specifically for the event. The final of the competition is also expected to draw an audience of around 1000 people.

The Best of Liverpool and Liverpool Loves Festival

The competition is still accepting applications from those acts wanting to compete in heat three, so there is still a chance to perform at the final. Open to all talent aged 16 and over, from musicians, to bands, to comedians, to other variety acts, the winner and finalists will be given a platform to further their careers in entertainment with a host of local and regional entertainment agencies in attendance.

The ten finalists will also be named the ‘Best of Liverpool’ with the overall winner receiving a prize worth around £5000, which consists of a music video or showreel, stylist for the day, photo shoot with celebrity photographer Rachel Joseph, recording time at Parr Street Studios, potential management opportunities, and PR services to help raise the performers’ profile.

The Best of Liverpool really is a great competition for those performers looking to make their first step into the industry. For those just wanting to watch the event, both heat three and the final will make for great entertainment, and will also give you the chance to have your say as to who is crowned the winner.
