The Snowflake Trail

This Christmas, Liverpool is being transformed into One Magical City yet again, with a whole host of activities taking place. Liverpool Live TV rounds up the events happening this December and January, so you can keep up-to-date with all the best things to do during this festive time!

Returning to Chavasse Park this year is The Ice Festival, which is the ideal place to keep the whole family entertained. Running from now until 4th January 2016, visitors can take a lap around the ice rink, enjoy festive rides, glide down the UK’s largest real Ice slide, or even take a break from their Christmas shopping to relax in the cosy Après Café Bar or to sip ice cold shots in the enchanting Ice Bar.

This year the city centre has been transformed into a winter wonderland by the mischievous Jack Frost, who has left a trail of snowflakes across the city for people to find. Running until 3rd January 2016, everyone is invited to follow the Snowflake Trail which features artists’ sculptures across 12 key locations in the city, as well as a series of specially devised light and sound installations and magical window displays in some of Liverpool’s best shopping spaces. Get involved by picking up a trail map and solve the clues along the way – there’s even a chance to win some wonderful prizes!

Liverpool’s Albert Dock will be treating visitors to a traditional festive spectacle with real reindeer, larger-than-life Christmas characters, yuletide choirs, and much more. There will also be outdoor live music, street theatre and dance performances to enjoy on select days. And on the 19th December 2015, there will be a chance to meet the illuminated Snow Queen, as the world-famous Liverpool Lantern Company presents a magical, yuletide progression around the Dock’s.

If you’re looking for alternative gift ideas, be sure to head to one of Liverpool’s Christmas markets for artisan bargains, unusual presents, and festive food and drink. The continental markets on Lord Street and Paradise Street will be open until 19th December, and offering another alternative shopping experience is the Winter Arts Market, which will take place at St George’s Hall on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December 2015.

There will also be plenty of Christmas entertainment on at the Echo Arena for those who like to laugh or have a sing-song. From Michael McIntyre’s new stand-up show Happy & Glorious (4th and 5th December), to Radio City Christmas Live featuring Olly Murs (9th December), and A Song for Christmas featuring some internationally acclaimed artists (11th December), there will be a show that everyone can enjoy this festive season.
