WHATS ON: Silent Night Carol Concert | St George’s Hall | 10.12.15

Silent Night Carol ConcertA moving and unique concert that reflects on wartime at Christmas will be taking place at St George’s Hall on Thursday 10th December 2015, when more than 10 groups of performers will take to the stage. As a tribute to the Poppies: Weeping Window installation which is currently on display inside the venue and which depicts the famous Christmas Truce of 1914, the Silent Night Carol Concert will include stunning live performances of carols and songs, including some from the wartime era. Organised in partnership with Resonate, Liverpool’s Music Hub, the huge line-up on the night includes Night & Days, Resonate Singers, Liverpool Male Voice Choir, The Royal Court Theatre Choir, Resonate Brass, S.O.N.G Merseyside, SoSo (Singing Our Socks Off), Vox in the Light, The Poppies, and Pagoda Chinese Youth Orchestra.

In between acts, members of the Liverpool PALS Memorial Fund Committee will be reading out letters from the front. During the evening there will also be a special performance by Resonate Singers of a song penned by local composer John Hogg. ‘From Seeds of Hope’ is a song inspired by the poppies, and copies of the track will be available to purchase at the Hall on the night.

And completing the evening will be The Farm, with a spine-tingling acoustic rendition of ‘All Together Now’ accompanied by the other acts.

With some iconic carols and wartime songs being performed, including ‘Till We Meet Again’, ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’, ‘Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree’, ‘Blue Moon’ and ‘White Christmas’, this will truly be an extraordinary musical experience, and the perfect way to celebrate this Christmas time.
