REVIEW: Revolution | Wood Street | 29.05.15

Revolution Wood StreetAfter an 8-week long refurbishment, the iconic Revolution Wood Street in Liverpool is now reopening to the general public. Mari Jones went along to take a look at the venue, and also sample a few of the recent additions to the menu.

The first thing that you notice on arrival at the new look Wood Street Revolution bar is the bright and inviting décor. A revamped layout makes the most of the venue’s space, a new booth arrangement offering the ideal place to sit and chat while you enjoy a drink or two (or even more!) and contributing to the overall welcoming atmosphere.

Speaking of drinks, a pleasing addition to this particular venue is a new list of cocktails, exclusive to the Wood Street bar. Blended drinks offer a range of fun and quirky cocktails, topped with all manner of things from popcorn to sweets such as Jelly Babies and Flying Saucers (careful not to drink these too quickly though as it can result in brain freeze, as my sister discovered!). The list doesn’t stop there though with even more interesting cocktails available, some of which seem to have been thought up in a scientist’s lab (one of my favourites being a cocktail complete with candyfloss that changes the colour of the drink as you add it!).

With all this, as well as the usual Cocktail Masterclasses that the venue offers (giving you the chance to learn the tricks of the trade) and great soundtracks provided by resident Liverpool DJs, Revolution Wood Street is set to become one of the best venues in Liverpool to either start or end your night.

**The official launch for the venue takes place on Friday 5th June 2015 and will feature Joel Valentine singing live, free cocktails and drinks samples, and a DJ from 9pm. The party will continue on Saturday with a live saxophonist performing in the evening. Be sure to go and check it out!**
