WHATS ON: Constellations | Liverpool Playhouse | 19 – 23 May 2015

ConstellationsConstellations, a play exploring the ideas of free will and friendship, comes to the Liverpool Playhouse after previously enjoying sell-out runs at London’s Royal Court, the West End and Broadway. Starring Sherlock’s Louise Brealey and Robin Hood’s Joe Armstrong, this exhilarating production will show at the Playhouse from Tuesday 19th May to Saturday 23th May 2015. Written by leading playwright Nick Payne and directed by Michael Longhurst, Constellations looks at the concept of quantum multiverse through a chance encounter between bee-keeping Roland (Armstrong) and scientist Marianne (Brealey).

In this heart-breaking love story, the pair meet repeatedly in a succession of scenes, showing the audience how their relationship could have turned out differently as a result of varying factors, such as the words they said or the tone of voice they used.

Funny, sad and intellectual, all at the same time, Constellations is a feat of modern playwriting and an enchanting production that shows how one relationship can turn out to have an infinite number of possibilities.
