WHATS ON: My Romantic History | Lantern Theatre | 2 & 3 November 2015

My Romantic HistoryThe acclaimed Quintus Theatre Company returns next week to Liverpool’s Lantern Theatre with My Romantic History. Playing on Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd November 2015, this is an exciting production that boldly sticks two fingers up to the modern rom-com. TICKETS

First performed at the 2010 Edinburgh Festival where it won a Scotsman Fringe First Award followed by a sell-out run at London’s Bush Theatre, this is a brutally honest and sarcastic production of D.C. Jackson’s source novel.

Set in modern-day Glasgow, the play centres on characters Tom and Amy and their ‘not so romantic’ love story which forms after a boozy work party. Featuring Quintus’ resident actors Jessie Harris, Lesley-Staum Lewis and Nick Wright fresh off the success of their run of Hearts Desire earlier this summer, My Romantic History gives romantic comedies a much-needed wake up call, with a liberal scattering of not-so-healthy cynicism and a ‘pull no punches’ sense of humour.

Working in collaboration with Josh Slater of EnCompass Collective as Assistant Director and University of Chester Senior Lecturer, Dr. Shelley Piasecka as Director, Quintus are thrilled to present this contemporary, three-act play at the intimate venue of the Lantern Theatre. With the aid of assistant Matthew Garside, resident Stage Manager Gemma Bamford leads the behind-the-scenes action in this brilliant and very real production suitable for the ‘glass half-empty’ types.
