Clash and Manics Legends Sign Up for Don’t Buy The Sun Concert

Mick Jones from The Clash and James Dean Bradfield of the Manic Street Preachers are two high profile names that have been added to the line up for the Don’t Buy The Sun concert taking place at Liverpool Olympia on Saturday Sept 24th 2011

Fazakerley 9, The Hillsborough Justice Campaign and Liverpool Sound City are behind the gig in support of the Don’t Buy The Sun Campaign and as a timely reminder of the continued boycott of the newspaper by the people of Merseyside and beyond as a result of their false claims in the aftermath of the Hillsborough tragedy – a cause that has united both the red and blue halves of the city. www.dontbuythesun.co.uk

The show will serve to remember the ninety-six Liverpool FC fans who died at the Hillsborough disaster in April 1989 and also celebrate the life of James McVey – the 18 year-old Liverpool FC fan who tragically died after being set upon at a party in Walton on October 9th, 2010.

Supported by the best new talent in Liverpool, alongside some of the city’s most legendary artists, the line-up also features The Farm, Sound Of Guns, Pete Wylie, Ian Prowse, The Tea Street Band and The Sums. On the night there will also be a speech from Tom Watson MP.

Tickets are available now priced £15 with all proceeds going to the Fazakerley 9 Charity in memory of James McVey. The money will be used to go towards turning a local park into a bright new community and sports area for young people from Walton, Liverpool.
