COMING UP: Groove on the Green at Chavasse Park, 5-7 May 2012

An exciting outdoor festival will be taking place in Liverpool One’s Chavasse Park on May Bank holiday weekend 5-7 May. Groove on the Green is FREE and brings the sunshine with three days of jazz, soul, funk and R ‘n’ B courtesy of LIPA students and Liverpool musicians.

This annual jazz, soul, swing and blues festival takes place over the May bank holiday weekend on Chavasse Park, promising to attract thousands of people. Now in its sixth year, Groove on the Green is organised by LIPA Management students and sponsored by local businesses.

The festival will feature up and coming bands from local universities and more established north based bands, including locally acclaimed jazz bands, quartets, big bands and orchestras. This year they are broadening the entertainment on offer by including a variety of other entertainment including magic, comedy and dance.

For the artists its a real opportunity to showcase their talent and build their fan bases. For the audience there will be plenty of tunes to relax and soothe – and some to gently shake off the winter cobwebs. Groove on the Green aims to make jazz music more accessible by offering it to a wider audience, helping to elevate creative thinking and to raise the profile of jazz music.
