COMING UP: October listings at Leaf Bold Street

LIVERPOOL’S favourite tea shop Leaf on Bold Street is hosting a variety of events throughout October. There is something for everyone, from life drawing to open mic nights to networking events to pudding clubs all in this cosy and intimate venue.

Tues 2nd Oct:
Open Mic Night with Johnny Sands 
Every Tuesday in October Nothing beats an evening of live music, especially in Liverpool, a place famed for our love of making music and for sternly supporting our very talented up and coming artists. Out of the Bedroom Open Mic is another perfect example of local talent standing strong, with a packed house and great atmosphere every Tuesday night. Bring your own instrument for a chance to perform.

Wed 3rd Oct: 
Mellowtone & Ceremony Concerts present…Duotone
Duotone is the name under which Barney Morse-Brown (cellist for The Imagined Village and Chris Wood’s Handmade Life) and James Garrett (London based singer-song writer and percussionist) write and perform their own contemporary acoustic songs. They loop guitars, cellos, percussion and voices to create ethereal soundscapes for their poignant lyrics to weave in and out. Sure to be a show full of treats, innovation and intrigue with support from Paul Straws, Tibi & Her Cello and DJs Jonnie O’Hare (Beaten Tracks) & Monkey.

Thurs 4th Oct:
An Evening with Peter Hook…In association with Waterstones 
Get your tickets early for music icon Peter Hook of candid Manchester band Joy Division. Peter will be speaking about his new book ‘Unknown Pleasures’ a personal account of the bands struggle for recognition in the late 70’s, their highs and lows and how tragedy struck when front man Ian Curtis committed suicide in 1980.

Knitting Club
A nifty little crafting group that want to spread their expertise across the land. Whether you want to perk up your purl stitch or increase your rate of cross-stitch there is something for all. Swap, share, natter and be inspired whilst sipping on a delightful cuppa and gorging on a rich chocolate cake. Whether you’re a novice or a pro pop along with your needles and hooks. Create & Write with Susi Moore

Harvest Sun presents.. By The Sea single launch 
Perennial Harvest Sun favourites By The Sea are launching their new single this month at LEAF. The brilliant Bill Ryder-Jones produced Dream Waters/Eveline Double A release is out now digitally worldwide and on limited edition 7″ via cult boutique label Great Pop Supplement. Handpicked by the band and also a constant on the Harvest Sun Jukebox this year are very special guests Echo Lake. A go-to group for fans of Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine missing those bands’ hazy melodicism. Add into the mix local shoe-gazers Tear Talk and a special guest DJ from By The Sea’s producer Bill Ryder-Jones and we have a classic to look forward to.
