COMING UP: Out of The Blue Music Festival, Everton Park – Saturday 7th September

The family-friendly Out of the Blue Festival returns this September. Following a summer of great events across the city, this community-based festival offers yet another chance to enjoy free music in one of the City’s brilliant parks – all the while joining in with a fantastic range of activities and (hopefully) soaking up the last of the summer sun! Nestled in Everton Park (which has the most amazing views across the city), this Festival will take place on Saturday 7th September between 11am – 7pm.

The event offers a mix of events and activities suited to all the family, including: arts and crafts, sporting activities, a climbing wall, face painting, donkey rides, workshops, stalls and lots more!

The exciting, energetic band The Fire Beneath the Sea are headlining this year, with other acts on the main stage including the Peacemakers, Samba Beat, The Crystal Horses and the local boy band Mic Lowry.

Last year the festival attracted around 3,000 people to the Park; it was a glorious day and the event organisers hope this year will be just as successful. “This festival is still very much about celebrating the local community, although it is constantly growing,” says organiser Adam Byrne. “This year it has even been made part of the Liverpool International Music Festival celebrations. It is a great event which really has something for everyone.”

This year’s event will be opened by Lord Mayor Gary Millar, with numerous families coming together for the Blue Run. This will be followed by 7 hours of music and performances all in memory of Joseph Lappin who tragically lost his life, aged sixteen, very near to the park in October 2008.

Joseph’s mother Toni Lappin said: “I have had this date in my diary all year. It is all about communities coming together to celebrate the positive things that we can do together. This community organised, volunteer led festival is a fitting tribute to Joseph’s memory. As a family we would encourage everyone to attend, and take part in the Blue Run and the Festival.”
