COMING UP: Summer of Love Liverpool Bandstand at Williamson Sq, 26 Jul-22 Aug 2012

THIS summer Liverpool city centre will be hosting ‘Summer of Love’, its first ever bandstand this summer in Williamson Square from July 26th to August 22nd 2012. Organised by City Central BID and Open Culture and with funding from Arts Council England the 4-week festival is open to performers of all kinds.

The bandstand will provide FREE high profile opportunities for artists – amateur and professional, of all ages, cultures and disciplines to perform their work, showcasing their part in the cultural offer of the city.

The Summer of Love Liverpool Bandstand will be programmed four days a week (Thursday – Sunday) with a professional sound engineer to support four performances a day from noon to 5pm.

All types of performers are invited to be part of the event including: musicians, singers, choirs, comedians, poets, theatre groups, community groups and other acts.

The pop-up bandstand, which measures 13ft high and 18ft wide and will feature seating for the public, will also be available for ‘free play’ on Monday to Wednesdays and will be listed as a busking venue under Liverpool city council’s new street entertainment policy, which comes into effect on July 9th.
