COMING UP: What’s On in Liverpool One this summer

Liverpool ONE is hosting a whole range of events throughout July and August to celebrate summer in style. Events include the return of piano festival Tickle The Ivories, the opening of The Beach in Chavasse Park and Ping! Table Tennis.

Tickle the Ivories (Sat 7th July to Sun 16th Sep): Tickle the Ivories is returning for the second year. Organised in partnership with Open Culture, the ten week piano festival is open to everyone to take part. The Beach (Thurs 12th July – Sun 2nd Sep): This summer is set to sizzle at Liverpool ONE with the return of The Beach and a jam-packed events programme with something for the whole family. Chavasse Park will be alive with live entertainment, a sandy beach, cocktail bar, sport and family rides and attractions. MerseyVolley will be running a summer volleyball league on The Beach for experienced volleyball teams. Teams will compete against each other to reach the grand final.

Stalls in the City (Thomas Steers Way, Sat 4th – Sun 5th Aug, Sat 1st – Sun 2nd Sep):There will also be fabulous arts and craft fairs in Liverpool ONE. Organisers have worked with Open Culture to pull together some of our favourite independent artists, designers and makers to bring a selection of stalls selling everything from handmade gifts and bespoke jewellery to fine art and prints.

 Ping! Table Tennis (Peter’s Lane, Fri 29th June – Thurs 26th July):Come and grab a bat! Play open-air table tennis in the city centre as part of this nationwide initiative to get people playing! Add details of position of pianos collect bats/balls from HouseofFraser.com

Five Ways to Health and Wellbeing (Thomas Steers Way, Fri 6th – Sun 29th July):Children and young people from Liverpool Arabic Centre’s Education Project present their messages to the five ways to Health and Wellbeing through a series of photographic artwork and Arabic calligraphy. (Part of Liverpool Arabic Arts Festival).

Children’s Tennis Lessons (Chavasse Park, 4th, 5th, 8th and 9th Aug): Game, set and match! During the summer holidays, kids can come and join free tennis lessons on Chavasse Park.

Big Dance 2012 (Sun 15th July): This summer the UK will be in the midst of dance fever as the national programme, Big Dance, hits cities across the country and Liverpool ONE is no exception. New Summer Collection at Whitewall Gallery (ongoing): This summer visit Whitewall Galleries in Liverpool ONE for a glass of champagne and view the fabulous new summer collection of original artwork and collectable limited editions from award winning artists including Doug Hyde, Sherree Valentine Daines, Rolf Harris and Henderson Cisz.

Blank Notes presents a super Summer fair at The Bluecoat (School Lane, Sat 4th Aug, 10am – 5.30pm): For those who are looking for something a little bit different this summer and wanting to support local businesses this fair is perfect. Bursting with individuality and character, the market hosts the best handmade designers in the North West and from across the UK. 100% British unique gifts and accessories that aren’t available elsewhere will appeal to all tastes.

Haydock’s Best Dressed Racegoer 2012 (Fri 10th Aug): Liverpool ONE will be partnering with Haydock Park Racecourse to sponsor the Best Dressed Racegoer competition at their 2012 Ladies’ Evenings. Each event promises to be an evening of top-class racing and high class fashion. Dress to impress and get the chance to enter the ‘Best Dressed Racegoer’ fashion competition with fantastic prizes for the winner from Haydock Park and Liverpool ONE.
