Liverpool Music Awards 2013: Music Business of the Year Nominees

The 2nd Liverpool Music Awards takes place on Sunday 25th August at St George’s Hall. Public voting closes at midnight on Friday (16th Aug). The Music Business of The Year sponsored by Haines Watts nominees are…

Started in 2012, the ‘not for profit’ Eighties Vinyl Records label’s intention is to promote not only the best local bands but also the artists behind the scenes who design the record sleeves for the vinyl only label. Also showcased are the videographers who produce the videos for each single release. One single a month is produced for an up and coming band and the first twelve months were commemorated in July with a Limited Edition Vinyl LP titled ‘Just Records’. The album included new tracks from bands who had released a single in the first year.

Musicians and producers will already be familiar with Elevator’s state-of-the-art Recording Studio in Liverpool’s City Centre – another warehouse conversion, which provides a unique and inspiring environment for audio production. Artists who have recorded at Elevator Studios include fellow nominees: Miles Kane, Bill Ryder-Jones, Clinic, Ian Broudie and many more.

3 Beat started life in 1989 as a second-hand stall in Liverpool’s Quiggins. The UK was falling under the spell of house music but there were few places to buy it until Jon Barlow opened the original 3 Beat record shop on Wood Street. The record label was born when customers began bringing in demo tapes, and in 1997 3 Beat branched into artist management. In 2007 the label was reborn as 3 Beat productions building up a hugely talented roster of artists and a string of chart hits.
