Michael Kiwanuka and Ghostpoet added to Sound City 2012

Liverpool Sound City have announced the second wave of new acts with Michael Kiwanuka, Mystery Jets and Ghostpoet set to join the likes of Professor Green, White Denim and Death In Vegas and many more at this year’s three day festival.

Michael Kiwanuka fresh from last night’s show at The Kazimier (Feb 20) is the pick of this latest announcement. Already holding the title of BBC Sound Of 2012, the British soul singer who has toured with Laura Marling and Adele, will release his debut album ‘Home Again’ on 12th March.

London’s Mystery Jets are back with a fourth studio album due for release in April and will play Sound City once more following their appearance at the inaugral event back in 2008. Mercury nominee Ghostpoet makes a hasty return to the city after headlining Liverpool Music Week’s closing party at the CUC back in November.

Alkaline Trio, Slow Club, Willy Mason, The Jezabels, (ALT-J), Niki and the Dove, Toy and Forest Swords also join the ever growing list of artists confirmed for the event which takes place 17-19 May around the city.

This year Sound City will break new ground with its first Expo. The event looks to bring together the newest and most forward thinking exhibitors to the Echo Arena, providing access for both consumers and music/digital professionals to the people, tools and services they will need as we move ever onwards in the digital age.

Early Bird offers run out at midday on 27th February. Priced at just £25 for a full 3-day festival wristband and £90 for a delegate pass, music fans are advised to get tickets now.
