NEWS: Above The Beaten Track Festival returns this summer

After a two-year hiatus, organisers of Above the Beaten Track have announced that, after much anticipation, Liverpool’s FREE cultural underground festival finally returns this summer with new exciting and diverse performances. On Saturday 30 August 2014, ATBT will once again showcase an assortment of the best live music, DJs, live art and audio-visual extravaganzas at its home the Bluecoat.

Established in 2008, Above the Beaten Track is a celebration of Liverpool and Merseyside’s creative grass roots scene. Specialising in roots, folk, blues and country music, ATBT offers a platform for emerging talent, under-the-radar live music and young creativity in the region.

Artistic Director of The Bluecoat Bryan Biggs says: “We are delighted to welcome back Above the Beaten Track to the Bluecoat this summer. Previous events here offered a rich and refreshing mix of musical talent, and this year promises to be even better, taking over the whole building with a more diverse line up and more associated events.

“This year also marks a closer working relationship between us as part of a two-year ATBT development here. The event chimes with the Bluecoat’s ethos of supporting emerging artists and reaching new audiences and we very much look forward to what promises to be one of the summer’s musical highlights in the city.”

The event has grown and developed over the years into a fantastic opportunity to display talent in Liverpool and Merseyside and now thanks to the added support from Arts Council England, this year is shaping up to be its best yet.
