NEWS: Esco Williams announced as Astral Coast 2013 headline act

Merseyside soul sensation Esco Williams will top the bill at the second edition of Wirral’s Astral Coast festival. The event which aims to pair up national recording artists with the freshest local talent takes place at New Brighton’s Floral Pavilion on Sat 20th July.

Fresh from a national schools tour in support of the Anthony Walker Foundation and a pulsating show on the Garage stage at this year’s Sound City, the MOBO Award winner and GIT Award nominee’s performance will be truly one not to be missed.

Joining Esco on the line-up are Wirral’s very own By The Sea. The band have been recieving plaudits and fans by the bucketload since the release of their recent fantastic, self titled, debut album. A dreamy combination of melody-rich tunefulness and instrumental haze, they create one of the most unique and listenable sounds around.

Wirral charity The Open Door Centre will once again highlight depression and anxiety in young people as they host the ‘Where’s Your Head At?’ area in association with CALM. Lee Pennington, Director of The Open Door Centre said: “The Open Door Centre is involved with Astral Coast in a move to get mental health issues into the consciousness of young people in the area. A core aim of the centre is to get young people talking about depression and anxiety and interact with young people on their level and in a way which they can relate to. Music is universal and being involved with the festival will allow us a platform to engage with young people and take mental health out of the backwaters and GP waiting rooms, whilst breaking some stigmas and preconceptions along the way.”
