joe eggAs well as appearing in Al’s Lads – with a special screening and Q+A at The Light New Brighton on Thurs 18 – the loveable Ralph Little stars in Peter Nichols’ dark comedy A Day in the Death of Joe Egg at the Liverpool Playhouse until 27 April.



fashionWe’re still missing the silent disco at Tate Liverpool, but on Thursday 25 April the always adventurous TK Maxx is holding its very own, complete with summer fashion trends and store vouchers. We’ve no idea why it’s on, but who doesn’t like to watch other people dancing like prats?



dragonThe first St George’s Day Festival takes place Sunday 21 April, with events at the World Museum, St George’s Hall and the surrounding area. Aimed at families, you can expect fiery dragons, knights in shining armour, a hog roast and a fun fair…



jasperNew literary festival In Other Words launches on World Book Night (Monday 23 April) with some very special free events at St Georges Hall. Drop in at the Marketplace at the main hall from 5-9pm has stalls, mini libraries, book exchanges and more. Upstairs, authors Philippa Gregory, Patrick Ness and  (the fantastic) Jasper Fforde discuss their work with interviews and readings in the Concert room.



ashThe much-anticipated Evil Dead reboot is released 18 April (read our review here). If you fancy something a little bit tamer, Light New Brighton is showing 90’s animated classic The Iron Giant over the weekend.

recordRecord Store Day returns Saturday 20 April with the city’s trendiest musical hotspots hosting record fairs, intimate performances and exclusive releases. Subsound and 3B records are holding a free showcase at the Slater Street store ahead of Deekline and Ed Solo at 40 Seel Street, while FACT host the now-traditional screening of Empire Records.
