Shaun Ryder to play intimate gig at The Magnet

Former Happy Mondays and Black Grape frontman Shaun Ryder will make an appearance at The Magnet, Hardman St on Wednesday 23rd November as part of his 27 date UK tour. The Mancunian will be supported by London five-piece rock ’n’ roll band Dixie

The ‘Up Close and Personal’ tour sees Shaun and his band playing classic material and some new songs at intimate venues around the UK and will close out a busy year for the singer with festival appearances and the release of his autobiography ‘Twisting my Melon’ already in the bag.

Dixie release their UK debut single “What You Gonna Do” on 21st November 2011 through 301 Records and join the tour at the personal request of Shaun Ryder himself. “It’s an honour,” says guitarist Noel, “He’s really the last true rock ’n’ roller.”  Shaun Ryder himself says, “These guys remind me of the early days of the Mondays. All spit, swagger and great tunes. I love to watch ’em go at it on the stage. A proper band.”

Formed on a boisterous weekend away in Warsaw , the band aim to be nothing less than, yes, “a proper band,” the antidote to what they see as a staid, predictable music scene. Soul-fuelled lyrics, stripped down grooves and classic riffs combined together with a cheeky swagger to create a truly unique sound.
