DON’T SLEEP ON IT 29.01-05.02: Shangri-La | mUmU 6th Birthday | Circus | Monki & Friends

2013 saw an array of impressive DJ nights and by the looks of this January alone, 2014 is set to top it. Our reviewer Ashley Manning picks out the big club nights to visit around the city this weekend.

It all kicks off this Thursday at Heebie Jeebies with the Shangri-la Residents Party. TICKETS. London’s Felon is joined by all the usual Shang residents. Eliot Johnson, a relatively new face on the scene is one to look out for. Check out what he’s been getting up to:

It’s a big weekend at New Bird Street Warehouse with MuMu celebrating its 6th birthday. After several years of delivering sets from the likes of Tom Demac, Mathias Kaden and Pan Pot, the event organisers have selected a combination of DJ’s that ‘represent a celebration of what’s thoroughly good and pure about house & techno…’ With the line-up featuring Gary Beck, Seb Zito, Ryan Elliot and Radio Slave, it’ll definitely be one not to miss. TICKETS

Here’s the event trailer to give you a taster of what’s to come:

Not in the mood for a 12 hour session? Head over to EVAC on the same night to catch ‘Circus Presents: Viva Warriors.’ If you were lucky enough to bag a ticket to this, you’ll be treated to the wonders of Yousef, Steve Lawler and Detlef, to name but a few.

If you still have some energy left come Monday morning, get down to the Shipping Forecast to see Monki and Friends. The Radio 1 DJ and touring club ‘AMP’ resident, is a particular favourite. Expect electronic bass from Monki and a blend of garage and soul beats from her accompanying DJs Mak and Pasteman. Here’s a sample from previous tour nights:

In fact, even if you are knackered from the weekend, you should probably drag yourself to this set anyway. Do not sleep on it. TICKETS
